A participatory process is a sequence of participatory activities (e.g. first filling out a survey, then making proposals, discussing them in face-to-face or virtual meetings, and finally prioritizing them) with the aim of defining and making a decision on a specific topic.
Examples of participatory processes are: a process of electing committee members (where candidatures are first presented, then debated and finally a candidacy is chosen), participatory budgets (where proposals are made, valued economically and voted on with the money available), a strategic planning process, the collaborative drafting of a regulation or norm, the design of an urban space or the production of a public policy plan.

The Region of Central Macedonia, in collaboration with the Municipality of Kalamaria, is launching an Open Call for citizen proposals for the regeneration of the former military camp of Kodra, as part of the Bauhaus4MED project, co-funded by the Interreg Euro MED Programme with 10 partners across 8 Mediterranean countries.
Kodra is a large, historically and environmentally significant site of over 340 hectares, located in Kalamaria, Thessaloniki. It offers a unique opportunity to be transformed into a metropolitan park that prioritises green infrastructure, cultural activity, and inclusive public use, aligned with the values of the New European Bauhaus: sustainability, aesthetics, and inclusion.
This Open Call empowers citizens to help reimagine this key urban space. We invite residents, organisations, and creative teams to propose concrete, implementable solutions for Kodra’s future — integrating environmental care, community needs, and artistic vision.
